DataSmart Processes

Meaningful Data Collection

Our DataSmart process is all about turning data into action. We start by creating dedicated teams and then dive into collecting both quantitative and qualitative data. Next, we host engaging data retreats, where, over one or two days, we break down the data in a clear and easy-to-understand format to help guide your goal-setting and action plans. To keep things on track, we provide monthly check-ins and follow-up retreats to review progress and make adjustments as new insights emerge, ensuring you’re always moving in the right direction.

The Compass Approach to Assessment

COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT OF DISTRICT SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS (CADS)

CADS comprehensively evaluates district special education systems, including student performance, culture, leadership, teacher efficacy, and instructional practices. This process yields comprehensive reports that drive data-informed decision-making and strategic goal-setting. Compass supports over forty districts annually through facilitated analysis sessions and ongoing coaching to ensure the effective implementation of improvement plans.

COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT (CNA)

Our Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA) helps schools and organizations identify critical gaps and opportunities within their systems. By strategically aligning resources and interventions, we empower institutions to address specific stakeholder needs and enhance overall educational outcomes. Our customizable approach ensures that data gathering and analysis are tailored to reflect the unique challenges and priorities of each district or organization.

Our Process

STEP 01

Building a Data Committee

Your district or organization will create or establish a committee based on Compass recommendations and insights.

STEP 02

Data Committee Meetings

Compass will help the data committee explore, organize and customize surveys for participants.

STEP 03

Data Is Collected

Interviews are conducted by the Compass team, but school staff is encouraged to conduct observations.

STEP 04

Coordinate and Implement

We’ll take collected data and establish a timeframe for trainings centered around data collection tools.

STEP 05

Committee Data Retreat

The Compass team will go through an analysis of collected data during a two-to three-day retreat with committee members and develop goals.

STEP 06

Coaching and Support

We’ll conduct monthly or bi-monthly check-ins to support and ensure proper implementation of action steps.

STEP 07

Validation Training

Our team will gather additional data to show the progression during a 2-3 day retreat with the committee and determine additional goals.
